Meet the Chefs Behind the Bowls

In this article

Good food starts with great people. Behind every bowl of Just Food For Dogs is a real chef — someone who shows up each day with a passion for whole, honest ingredients and a genuine love for the animals who’ll enjoy them. Our JFFD kitchen chefs bring the same thoughtfulness and skill to a dog’s meal that any cook brings to the family table (and pets are family, after all).

They know that what they’re making isn’t just food, it’s health, happiness, and a few extra tail wags for the pups who deserve it most.

Leo S., Manhattan Beach Kitchen

"My passion for fresh food began with my love for animals. After high school, I studied animal biology and veterinary medicine. When I had the opportunity to join the team, I took it and haven't looked back since. Pets can't tell us when something is wrong or what they need. It's our responsibility to ensure they're always happy, healthy, and thriving. That starts with providing the best possible nutrition. I have a dog and a cat, and I see the impact every day. You can see it in their energy, overall health, and even the condition of their coats. One of the most rewarding parts of working at JustFoodForDogs is hearing directly from pet parents who say this food has changed their pets' lives. Knowing we can make that kind of difference is an amazing feeling."

"I feel like the coolest dog parent on earth. I test every new recipe and ingredient before it ever reaches your dog. So when I go home and feed Darla, I know exactly what's in her bowl."

"I used to make my dogs' food myself because I didn't trust what was out there. Finding a company that shared my values and let me join this mission was so refreshing."

Transparency is one of the main values that helps us in our mission of transforming the lives of dogs through scientifically-backed, fresh, human-grade nutrition. Our kitchen locations are open to the public, where pet parents can watch the meal preparation process firsthand. Bring your furry friend to any one of our Kitchen locations to sample the goods!
